Software icon and Chairman of Infosys Technologies Limited N R Narayana Murthy asserted today (Jun 11, 2005) he has no political ambitions at all.
Responding to media queries after the 24th Annual General Meeting of the Bangalore-headquartered, NASDAQ-listed company, Murthy said, "No, I have no political ambitions at all, absolutely not".
Murthy is completing 60 years on August 20 next year after which he would cease to be the Executive Chairman of the company.
"It's for the Board of Directors to decide whether I should continue as non-executive Chairman or not', he commented. "I have no political ambitions", he repeated.
Murthy reiterated his Opposition to reservation in the private sector.
He, Tata Group Chairman and a few others definitely believe that there are clearly injustice in the society and a large part of India is left behind and it's unfair, according to him.
"We will work very hard in making sure that there are various initiatives to train more people (from disadvantaged sections of the society) like by offering scholarships", he said.
"But not reservation (in the private sector)".
"We will make sure that there are better opportunities enabling them to face the challenges of the modern world", Murthy added.
