BSE: Sensex makes strong turnaround, up by 39 pts
Friday, June 10 2005 10:57 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: The Sensex today (Jun 10, 2005) opened steady and later made a strong turnaround after the overnight correction, rising to a high of 6883.67 during morning trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on fairly good Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) inflows.

The BSE Benchmark 30-share Index opened steady at 6833.58 as against yesterday's (Jun 9, 2005) close of 6832.53 and later rallied sharply to a high of 6883.67 before being quoted at 6871.30 at 10:30 hrs (IST), up by 38.77 points.

Operators and retail investors resorted to squaring up of positions at the weekend session even as domestic mutual funds and FIIs reported net investments in the first three trading sessions.

FIIs recorded net investments of Rs 452.90 crore in three sessions between June 6 and 8. Local funds too were net buyers to the tune of Rs 69 crore in the same period.

Blue chip counters like RIL, SBI, Tata Steel, Wipro, REL, Satyam Computers, Ranbaxy, ITC, Infosys Tech, ICICI Bank, HDFC Hindalco, HDFC Bank, Hero Honda, GACL, Dr Reddy's Lab and ACC were quoted substantially higher on renewed buying support.

BHEL and ONGC, however, showed moderate falls on some profit booking by investors.
