SlashSupport announces its expansion plans in India
Thursday, June 9 2005 10:57 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chennai: SlashSupport, an advanced technology support solutions provider, yesterday (Jun 8, 2005) announced expansion of its offshore operations in India by opening its fourth centre in Chennai and hiring over 1,000 IT professionals in the next six months.

At present, SlashSupport has three delivery facilities in Chennai and a redundancy centre in Singapore. The new 80,000-sqft facility in Chennai would become operational next quarter, Shiva Ramani, CEO said.

"The expansion has been necessitated by major account wins this quarter along with significant growth in couple of the existing customers," he said.

Alcatel, the global networking major, had earlier this year, set up a simulation and test lab at SlashSupport's facility in Chennai at an investment of over $2 million.

Ramani said a couple of global technology majors had off-shored their tech support function to SlashSupport after reviewing competitive offerings from major support providers for several months on comprehensive evaluation metrics.

"We clearly have come out ahead," he said. Over the last two quarters, SlashSupport has also seen existing customer expanding their outsourcing engagement with these companies.

"As part of the expansion, SlashSupport has plans to hire over 1,000 IT professionals over the next six months in Chennai," he said.

On the decision to expand in Chennai, he said, "In Chennai, we have found the confluence of technological depth, breadth of expertise, solid infrastructure and a great attitude critical for a support organisation," Ramani said.
