Maruti hikes Swift prices by Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 Tuesday, June 7 2005 11:03 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Barely a fortnight after launching its new hatchback model "Swift", Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) yesterday (Jun 6, 2005) hiked its price by Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the variants.
Under the new pricing, Swift Lxi will cost Rs 3,95 bn (an increase by Rs 8,000), Swift VXi will come at Rs 4,15 bn and the top end Swift ZXi will cost Rs 4,95 bn (both increased by Rs 10,000).
"As we have said at the time of the launch the introductory prices were for a limited period and from June 9 onwards the new price will come into effect," a MUL spokesperson said in New Delhi, explaining the price hike.
Swift, which was launched on May 25, was offered at an attractive introductory price ranging from Rs 3,87 bn and Rs 4,85 bn (ex-showroom) Delhi across the three variants.
All customers who book Swift upto June 8 will be able to enjoy the introductory price, he said, adding that they could make their bookings, if not already done, at the introductory price till that date.
So far over 18,000 customers from across the country have already placed orders for the Swift, he claimed.
At present, the waiting period for the vehicle is about three months, he added.
