BSE: Sensex opens marginally lower at 6723.62 pts
Thursday, June 2 2005 11:40 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: The Sensex today (Jun 2, 2005) opened marginally better, but thereafter fluctuated erratically on alternate bouts of buying and selling, before being quoted at 6723.62, a shade lower than the previous close at the opening session on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The BSE Benchmark 30-share sensitive index opened better at 6733.46 as against yesterday's (Jun 1, 2005) close of 6729.90 and after moving in a range of 6756.62 and 6711.86 was quoted at 6723.62 at 11:00 hrs (IST), showing a marginal loss of 6.28 points over the previous close.

During the early trading, BHEL, REL, Grasim, HDFC, ITC, Maruti, ONGC, Ranbaxy and Tata Steel were quoted weak on fresh selling.

However, rise in select index-based shares such as RIL, SBI, Bajaj Auto, Bharti, Hero Honda, Hindalco, HPCL, ICICI Bank, Infosystch, L&T, Satyam, Tata Motors, Tata Power, Wipro and Zee Tele reduced the index losses to a large extent.
