Singapore Airlines offers 'Lucky fare' to Kolkatans

Kolkata: Singapore Airlines (SIA) today (Jun 2, 2005) offered Kolkatans 'Lucky Fares' to Kuala Lumpur from tomorrow (Jun 3, 2005).

''To avail 'Lucky Fares' a passenger has to call an agent and if he is the lucky one, seats may be available at the promotional fare,'' SIA Manager, Eastern India, Bharath Mahadevan said in Kolkata today.

Mahadevan said that SIA was offering a half round trip fare of Rs 3999.50 plus taxes to Kuala Lumpur in June, and a half round trip fare of Rs 4249.50 plus taxes in July.

The SIA also offered goodies for the London sector with round trip fares at Rs 24,999 plus taxes, and New York at Rs 39,999 plus taxes for a round trip. ''Both these fares are valid between now and end July,'' he added.

''We are the preferred carrier to Malaysia in spite of recent competition, and we want to firmly establish our presence in this growing market,'' Mahadevan said.

SIA began its operations in India in 1970 and along with its subsidiary, Silk Air, operating 51 flights a week across ten destinations in India.

While SIA flies to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Amritsar and Ahmedabad, Silk Air offers services to Hyderabad, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

SIA operates four flights a week from Kolkata to Singapore non-stop on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
