'FIIs net sellers in equities at Rs 446.6 crore'

Mumbai: Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) recorded net sales of Rs 446.6 crore ($ 102.4 million) in equities for the trading week ended May 20 while mutual funds (MFs) were net purchasers at Rs 1125.39 crore.

The foreign funds were net sellers at Rs 61.9 crore ($ 14 million) in the debt market for the period under review, according to the data available with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in Mumbai.

The mutual funds were net purchasers in the debt market at Rs 1024.6 crore. Overseas funds were net sellers in equities on three trading days of the week.

The foreign funds recorded highest net outflow of the trading week in equities at Rs 438.50 crore ($ 100.40 mn) on May 19.

FIIs registered a net outflow of Rs 120 crore ($ 27.50 mn) in the debt market on May 19.

MFs recorded highest net purchases in the equity market on May 18 when they purchased equity worth Rs 446.29 crore. They purchased shares to the tune of Rs 374.53 crore on May 16.

MFs were the highest purchasers in the debt market on May 19 at Rs 449.14 crore.

The Stock Exchange, Mumbai, (BSE) during the week under review, saw the Sensex gaining 47.56 points to close at 6499.50 points.
