'Infosys to offer shares to Japanese investors'
Thursday, May 12 2005 16:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bangalore: Software major Infosys has filed a registration statement with Japan's Finance Ministry to enable investors in Japan to participate in its sponsored American Depository Receipts (ADR) against existing shares in the Indian market.

Infosys officials said the statement was filed yesterday (May 11, 2005) seeking to offer ADR in exchange of shares traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange, under its sponsored offer.

Infosys is planning a Public offer without listing (POWL) in Japan, under which its stocks, without an official listing procedure, can be offered to Japanese institutions and retail investors.

Infosys on Monday (May 9, 2005) opened its sponsored ADS offer of 16 million shares that is estimated to be valued at over $ one billion. The offer will close on May 19.
