Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) recorded net sales of Rs 35.6 crore ($ 8 million) in equities for the trading week ended May 6, while Mutual Funds (MFs) were net purchasers at Rs 367.18 crore.
The foreign funds were net purchasers at Rs 79.8 crore ($18.2 million) in the debt market for the period under review, according to the data available with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in Mumbai.
The mutual funds were net purchasers in the debt market at Rs 1308.91 crore.
Overseas funds were net sellers in equities on three trading days of the week.
The foreign funds recorded highest net outflow of the trading week in equities at Rs 67.70 crore ($15.50 million) on May 5.
FIIs registered a net inflow of Rs 91.80 crore ($21 million) in the debt market on May 2.
MFs recorded highest net purchases in the equity market on May 5, when they purchased equity worth Rs 140.09 crore. They purchased shares to the tune of Rs 109.66 crore on May 3.
The Stock Exchange, Mumbai, (BSE) during the week under review, saw the Sensex gaining 234.04 points to close at 6388.48 points.
