'Communications to SEBI in interest of shareholders'

New Delhi: Reliance Industries vice-chairman and managing director Anil Ambani today (May 7, 2005) said that through his spokesperson that he wrote several communications to market regulator SEBI to protect interest of Reliance shareholders.

The spokesperson said from Mumbai, "We confirm that several communications in the past few weeks were sent to SEBI in the interest of Reliance shareholders."

Earlier in the day, SEBI Chairman M Damodaran had said that they had received several letters from Anil and the regulator was doing everything required to protect investors' interest.

Asked about the content of the letters written to SEBI or whether it related to issues of corporate governance or disclosure in the Reliance Group, the spokesperson declined to comment.
