India, UK ink MoU to increase number of flights Wednesday, April 13 2005 21:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Giving a boost to air connectivity between India and the UK, the two countries today (Apr 13, 2005) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which the total number of flights between them would increase from existing 40 to 130 per week.
The MoU was signed by Civil Aviation secretary Ajay Prasad and Director of Trade and Investment in British High Commission in New Delhi Stepher Lillie.
Under the MoU, Indian carriers can now operate 56 flights from Delhi and Mumbai to London's Heathrow airport and have an unlimited flights from India to UK on all other routes.
The MoU will facilitate 56 flights per week from London to New Delhi and Mumbai, 14 flights per week connecting UK airports with Chennai and Bangalore and seven flights per week connecting the UK destinations with other international airports in India.
