Global Edge Software, a city based Embedded Software Services Company, today (Mar 29, 2005) announced it has acquired the assets of Ionic Microsystems, another Bangalore based technology provider for wireless LAN and broadband residential gateways.
Ionic's technology offering is in the form of system-level designs, firmware and middleware required for a range of products for SOHO and home market segment, a Global Edge statement said.
M P Kumar, founder CEO and Chairman of Global Edge Software said, the company now offers complete end-to-end solutions in Embedded Wireless and Residential Gateway areas.
"We are currently on an expansion mode, and are anticipating rapid growth over the next few years in line with the global market. The total global potential Embedded market revenue today is about $ 21 billon, growing at an annual compounded rate of 16 per cent," he said.
Global Edge with a workforce of around 300 people now is likely to ramp it up to 450 in a couple of years, he said.
Ionic specialises in voice over IP, video on demand, WLAN and blue tooth technologies for variety of home networking needs, Ionic also provides customisation services. On the broadband side, Ionic has done extensive work in the area of fibre, coaxial and wireless interfaces for the home gateway, the statement said.
