The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) today (Mar 22, 2005) finished its final campus placement process for the season with the maximum domestic salary pegged at Rs 14.5 lakh while the maximum international salary offered $ 152,000.
"A total of 477 job offers made to 247 students who participated in the placements of the 2003-2005 batch. There is an increase of 49 per cent in number of students over last
year (2004). The number of companies whose offers were accepted also increased by 40 per cent to 76 from 54 last year," IIM-A director Bakul Dholakia said at the campus in Ahmedabad.
"The industry responded very well. Foreign and Indian recruiters came and recruited cream of students," he added.
The salaries offered to IIM-A graduates touched new levels this time as both domestic and international salaries increased substantially, he said.
The average domestic salary increased by 12 per cent to Rs 7.90 lakh last year while the maximum domestic salary was Rs 14.5 lakh offered by GECIS for an assistant vice president position.
The average international salary this year is $ 80,000 while the maximum offered in investment banking was $ 152,000 by HSBC London, Dholakia added.
"Not only did existing recruiters maintain their relationship with IIMA through recruiting large numbers but many new recruiters also came down to recruit based on the growing global reputation of IIMA graduates," Dholakia added.
