Mumbai:
The Sensex opened moderately up and later moved narrowly in fairly good activity during morning trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today (Mar 15, 2005) on selective buying support alternated by continued profit booking.
The BSE Benchmark 30-share Index opened up at 6815.59 as against yesterday's (Mar 14, 2005) close of 6810.04 and later fluctuated in a range of 6823.46 and 6792.41 before being quoted at 6804.67 at 10:30 hrs (IST), down by 5.37 points.
Operators and retailers were seen booking profits in some blue chip counters at the early stages of the session.
Domestic mutual funds and operators continued to book profits due to approaching end of the current financial year, brokers said.
Meanwhile, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs), which were heavy buyers for the past few weeks, reported relatively low net investments of Rs 130.80 crore on March 11.
Blue chip counters like Wipro, Tata Power, RIL, Satyam Computers, REL, Ranbaxy, ITC, ICICI Bank, HLL, HDFC Bank, HDFC, Grasim, GACL, Dr Reddy's, Cipla, Bharti Tele-venture and Bajaj Auto were quoted lower on fresh selling pressure.
However, Tata Motors, ONGC, Infosys Tech and Hindalco showed marked gains on some buying support.
