BSE: Market hits new peaks; ends at 6915.09 points Tuesday, March 8 2005 17:07 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Keeping the tempo of breaking records after the pragmatic budget, the Sensex today (March 8, 2005) hit new peaks, closing past 6900-mark for the first time at 6915.09, even as equities extended their rally to fifth straight session on the back of high liquidity in the market.
The market has seen a dream-run since the budget, gaining a massive 264 points in past five trading sessions.
The Sensex also scaled new historic intra-trade peaks of 6929.59, within striking distance of the crucial 7000-mark.
In an otherwise lacklustre activity, the BSE Benchmark 30-share Index fluctuated in a narrow range of about 57 points before ending the day at 6915.09 against yesterday's close of 6878.98, a net rise of 36.11 points or 0.52 per cent.
