BSNL to issue 600,000 mobile connections in MP

Indore: Telecom major Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will issue 600,000 new mobile connections in Madhya Pradesh by March 2006.

The company has got the approval for providing the new connections, of which 80 per cent will be pre-paid while rest will be post-paid, MP telecom chief general manager (CGM) G C Mishra told reporters in Indore today (March 8, 2005).

BSNL has already installed 36 new BTS (tower) and will soon install five more to provide hassle-free connectivity to its customers at every level, he said.

BSNL has currently 1.26 lakh mobile connections and 1.10 lakh WLL connections in the State.

In terms of revenue, BSNL MP has registered an increase of 21 per cent at Rs 901 crore against last year's Rs 828 crore. The target for MP is Rs 1000 crore, he added.

The company has already provided 26,000 connections against the target of 33,000 new landlines by March-end.

BSNL has provided 44,000 WLL connections-based on CDMA technology this year against the target of 50,000, the official added.
