FIIs buyers record net purchases of Rs 2411.2 cr

Mumbai: Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) recorded net purchases of Rs 2411.2 crore ($ 551 million) in equities for the trading week ended March 4, while Mutual Funds (MFs) were net purchasers at Rs 26.94 crore.

The foreign funds were net purchasers at Rs 488.8 crore ($ 111.7 million) in the debt market for the period under review, according to the data available with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in Mumbai.

The mutual funds were also net purchasers in the debt market at Rs 861.14 crore.

Overseas funds were net buyers in equities on all five trading days of the week.

The foreign funds recorded highest net inflow of the trading week in equities at Rs 698.50 crore ($ 159.60 mn) on March 3, followed by Rs 538.20 crore ($ 123 mn) on March 2.

FIIs registered a net outflow of Rs 45 crore ($ 10.30 mn) in the debt market on March 4.

MFs were net sellers in equity market on February 28 and March 1, when they offloaded equity worth Rs 22.77 crore and Rs 172.27 crore respectively. They purchased shares to the tune of Rs 175.60 crore on March 3.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) during the week under review saw the Sensex gaining 279.76 points to close at 6849.48 points.
