Govt to provide equity support to public sectors
Monday, February 28 2005 15:55 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Government would provide an equity support of Rs 14,040 crore and loans of Rs 3,554 crore to Central Public Sector Enterprises, including Railways, Finance Minister P Chidambaram today (Feb 28, 2005) announced.

Spotlight: Budget 2005

To finance this growth and investment, Government would, therefore, through a mix of right policies and prudent taxes, promote savings and devise ways and means to channel these savings into productive investment, Chidambaram said presenting the budget proposals for 2005-06.

The capital market, banks, insurance companies, pension funds and superannuation funds would have a crucial role in mobilising and disbursing the financial resources required to sustain high investment, he said.
