The Sensex zoomed to cross an all-time high of 6700 points level within the first five minutes of trading during the morning session on the Bombay Stock Exchange in Mumbai today (Feb 14, 2005) on persistent heavy buying by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs).
The benchmark 30-share sensitive index opened the day firm at 6673.39 points as against the previous close of 6633.76 and soon rallied to a historic high of 6707.17, before being quoted at 6701.47 at 1010 hrs (IST).
During the early trade, Infosystch, ICICI Bank, Bharti Tele, SBI and Satyam Computers were the strong counters on heavy buying.
