BEL inks $ 1.6 mn contract with Govt of Suriname Friday, February 11 2005 20:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -  Bangalore:
Defence major Bharat Electronic Limited (BEL) today (Feb 11, 2005) signed a contract with the Government of Suriname for supply of Defence communication equipment and night vision devices worth $ 1.6 million.
BEL which has a stall at the ongoing Aero India 2005 showcasing its wide range of communication systems, radars and sonars, also used the opportunity to identify the requirements for Suriname's Defence forces for the next phase, a company statement said.

BEL had signed a contract with Suriname in Nov 2004 for supply of Solar Powered Traffic Junctions worth $ 1.3 million.
BEL also held fruitful discussion with its business partners including Elbit, Elop and Thales. BEL has recently signed a contract for worldwide maintenance of LWO8 Radar with Thales, and is discussing another contract with it on similar lines for maintenance of Flycatcher Radars, the statement said.
