BSE: Sensex rallies by 59 pts in morning trading Thursday, February 3 2005 11:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -  Mumbai:
Overcoming yesterday's (Feb 02, 2005) depressed sentiment, the Sensex resumed strong today (Feb 03, 2005) on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on emergence of heavy buying activity.
The 30-share sensitive index started the day firm at 6550.75 points as against yesterday's close of 6530.06 and continued to rise smartly on persistent support and was quoted at 6589.47 at 10:30 hrs (IST), showing a steep recovery of 59.41 points over yesterday's close.
The market had yesterday ignored the reform signals like hiking FDI in telecom to 74 per cent and the favourable reports by international rating agency Standard and Poor's and shares had fallen on heavy selling by operators and retail investors, who were getting jittery over the high price in the past couple of days.
However, during the early trading today, heavy buying activity was observed, which is a positive sign for the market, dealers said.
The smart gainers during the morning session were ACC, Bajaj Auto, BHEL, Maurti, Tata Motors, Dr Reddy, Grasim, L&T, ITC, Infosystch, Satyam Comp, Bharti, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Hero Honda, Hindalco, HPCL, ICICI Bank, Ranbaxy, Tata Power and Tata Steel.
