Karnataka to use BSNL's DataOne service for State

Bangalore: Karnataka Government will use the broadband Internet service launched by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) for its State-wide area network upto the taluk level, Chief Minister Dharam Singh said today (Jan 14, 2005).

Launching BSNL's DataOne services in Bangalore, Singh said that the State had already signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with BSNL for connecting all Government offices upto the Taluk office.

He said that there should be healthy competition with all the broadband players ensuring that there is level playing field for every operator.

Singh said that telecommunications and Internet had become an infrastructure essential for the people like roads and other infrastructure.
