RIL Board may discuss brothers' issue on Jan 21 Friday, January 7 2005 18:18 Hrs (IST) - World Time - New Delhi:
Amid unconfirmed media reports that the Ambani brothers have agreed to a "legal split" to put an end to their battle for the control of Reliance empire, the Board of Directors of the group's flagship company RIL (Reliance Industries Limited) has been summoned to meet on January 21.
RIL has informed the stock exchanges that the 12-member Board, chaired by the elder brother Mukesh Ambani, will meet in Mumbai on January 21 to consider, among other things, the un-audited financial results of the company for the quarter ended December 2004.

What "other things" the Board will consider was not disclosed in the notice to exchanges, but it is very likely that the issues raised by the warring brothers since mid-November will be discussed.
The Board last met on December 27 and fully backed Mukesh who is under attack from younger brother Anil, RIL's Vice Chairman.

The veracity of a TV Channel report last night that the feuding brothers had agreed at a family conclave to a "legal split" remained a matter of speculation in the absence of a confirmation or a clear-cut denial from either camp.
When contacted, sources close to Anil said this morning that he had left "all the key issues" for his mother Kokilaben to decide. An RIL spokesman had denied knowledge of the settlement as reported by the TV channel yesterday.
