BSE: Sensex snaps gaining streak, down 45.40 pts
Heavy profit-taking drove the Sensex down by 45.40 points to close at 6522.54 at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) ahead of the expiry of the Futures & Options December contract today (Dec 30, 2004) and arrested a sharp five-session rally that took it to all-time highs.

Budget session not to begin before Feb 20: Azad
The Budget session of Parliament will not begin before February 20, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said today (Dec 30, 2004).

VAT will be implemented from April 1, 2005: FM
Describing the Value Added Tax (VAT) as the "single most tax reform measure" attempted in the last 10 years, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today (Dec 30) asserted that the VAT system will be implemented from April 1, 2005.

Sensex again tops 6600 during morning trading
