BEML presents Rs 4.5 cr dividend cheque to Centre

Bangalore: The public sector Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), under Ministry of Defence, has presented a dividend cheque for Rs 4.5 crore to the Centre against its 61 per cent shareholding in the company.

The cheque was handed over to Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi today (Dec 21, 2004) by BEML Chairman and Managing Director, V R S Natarajan. Secretary (Defence Production) Shekar Dutt was also present on the occasion.

The public-listed BEML achieved a good growth and record turnover of Rs 1766 crore for the year 2003-04.

During the current year 2004-05, the company plans to achieve PBT of Rs 110 crore and sales of Rs 2000 crore.

BEML said it achieved a business volume of Rs 768 crore and PBT of Rs 44.26 crore for the half-year ending September 30, 2004, as compared to sales of Rs 766 crore and PBT of Rs 4.61 crore for the corresponding period in 2003-04.
