Sensex at new lifetime intra-trade peak at noon Wednesday, December 15 2004 13:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time

The Sensex today (Dec 15, 2004) surpassed 6400-mark for the first time in the history of the Stock Exchange, in Mumbai (BSE) during trading at noon, in a strong stocks rally right from the beginning of the session.
After resisting pressure during last week, the market once again, turned upbeat since Monday (Dec 13, 2004) and gained 92 points during the last two sessions bolstered by strong FII inflows and sound economic fundamentals.
The BSE Benchmark 30-share Index opened up at 6334.27 as against yesterday's (Dec 14, 2004) close of 6325.53 and later surged up to cross the 6400-level at 6409.09 at noon.
The Sensex has been creating new records since December 1 when it breached the previous all-time peak of 6249.60, touched on January 9.
Now, it has scaled a new lifetime record at 6409.09, breaking the previous historic record high of 6386.29 of December 6.
The price rally during the day is poised to create new records on the BSE.
