RIL wins three National Energy Conservation awards

New Delhi: Reliance Industries Limited's (RIL) plants at Hazira and Jamnagar have won the National Energy Conservation Awards 2004 claiming the first position in Petrochemicals Sector and Refinery Sector respectively, while RIL Patalganga was awarded a special award in the Petrochemicals Sector. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh presented the awards in New Delhi today (Dec 14, 2004).

According to the company release, these awards recognise Reliance's efforts at adopting a systematic and conscious approach towards energy conservation over the years and consistently reducing its energy costs.

RIL Hazira undertook 45 energy conservation schemes; while RIL's Patalganga plant implemented 15 energy conservation schemes and projects and Jamnagar undertook 12 schemes in 2003-04, the company release said.

The Ministry of Power, Government of India, presents the 'National Energy Conservation Awards' to promote and inspire energy Conservation. The awards are a means to institutionalise the energy efficiency movement in the country by identifying and giving recognition to the energy conservation efforts undertaken by different firms and industries, it said.
