Aarohi plans to invest $ 20 million in India Monday, December 6 2004 17:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time
Bangalore:
Storage area network (SAN) component provider Aarohi Communications today (Dec 6, 2004) said it would invest $ 20 million at its India development centre in Bangalore over the next few years.
"In the last three years we have invested over $ 10 million in the facility here and plan to almost double that over the next two to three years as we expand our business," Aarohi CEO Ameesh Divatia told reporters in Bangalore.
The San Jose-based Aarohi has begun pilot shipping of its chip-based solution to customers with an initial revenue of $ one million this year.
"In the next three years we are aiming at a revenue of $ 100 million," he said.
Aarohi has raised $ 36 million in three rounds from investors who include Telesoft Partners, Kennet Venture partners, Intel Capital, Infineon Technologies and McData Corporation.
Divatia said the firm was in talks to raise an additional $ 15 million from two firms including an existing investor, which is likely to be completed by March.
He said the India facility in Bangalore was involved in building all components of the applications, while the next generation chip from the firm was being built in Bangalore and rolled out in the next 12 months.
Aarohi India Managing Director Shanti Subbaraman said about 31 people were working in India, about half of the 60 member R&D team in Aarohi, that would be rapidly increased in the next few years.
