FIIs records net buyers in equities at Rs 2,732 crore Sunday, December 5 2004 11:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time

The foreign institutional investors (FIIs) recorded net purchases of Rs 2732.8 crore ($ 597 million) in equities for the trading week ended Dec 3, 2004 while mutual funds (MFs) were net sellers at Rs 391.78 crore.
The foreign funds were net purchasers at Rs 799.6 crore ($ 174.6 million) in the debt market for the period under review, according to the data available with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in Mumbai.
The mutual funds were also net purchasers in the debt market at Rs 385.55 crore. Overseas funds were net buyers in equities on all trading days of the week.
The foreign funds recorded their highest net inflow of the trading week in equities at Rs 994.20 crore ($ 217.20 mn) on Dec 3, 2004 followed by 876.90 crore ($ 191.50 mn) on Dec 1, 2004.
FIIs registered the highest net inflow in the debt market on Dec 2, 2004 at Rs 245.90 crore ($ 53.70 mn).
MFs were net sellers on all trading days in the equity market, selling shares to the tune of Rs 148.03 crore and Rs 111.67 crore on Dec 1 and Nov 30 respectively. On debt front, MFs were net purchasers at Rs 364.06 crore on Dec 1, 2004.
The Stock Exchange, Mumbai, (BSE) during the week under review saw the Sensex gaining 287.73 points to close at 6322.76.
