Mumbai: The Sensex today (Dec 1, 2004) opened past the historic high of 6249.60 and continued its rally towards 6300-mark during morning trading on the Stock Exchange in Mumbai, driven by sustained purchases by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs).

The BSE barometer had closed at the record peak of 6194.11 yesterday (Nov 30, 2004). It had risen to near the historic intra-day high of 6249.60 of January 9, 2004.

The BSE Benchmark 30-share Index opened firm at 6259.28 as against yesterday's close of 6234.29 and later spurted to a high of 6272.68 before being quoted at 6245.68 at 10.10 hrs (IST).
