Sensex touches 10-mth high during mid-session

Mumbai: Shares zoomed up during the mid-session on the Stock Exchange (BSE) in Mumbai today (Nov 29, 2004) with the 30-index sensitive index shooting up to touch a 10-month high of 6125.00 points at round 1 pm on frantic and continued buying by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs).

The Sensex, after a lower start at 6033.42, shot up to touch a high of 6125.00 and was being quoted at 6118.66 at 1.45 hrs (IST).

FIIs, who had invested around a whopping Rs 30,000 crore during the last 11 month of the current year, continued to make heavy purchases, dealers said.

Meanwhile, Reliance Energy met with heavy selling pressure and was quoted lower at Rs 545.60 as against the previous close of Rs 549.10. However, RIL found some low-level support and was trading around Rs 506.15 marginally better than the previous close of Rs 503.55.

Some of the major shares being traded above the previous level were ABB, ACC, Bajaj Auto, Bharti, BHEL, Bharat Forge, GACL, HDFC, HLL, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Satyam, SBI and Zee Tele.
