Software giant Infosys to have extra office space soon

New Delhi: An additional 3.5 million sq ft of office space will be available to Infosys Technologies in the next few months as the software giant hires aggressively to keep up with the growth in business.

"The additional 3.5 million square feet of additional office space is coming up at all nine of our development centres in India," chief operating officer of Infosys K Gopalakrishnan told newspersons in New Delhi.

The space will be available to the company in the next few months, another senior official of the company said.

The company's total office space in nine Indian cities where it has development centres is about 5.04 million square feet.

The existing office space of Infosys has 25,803 seats and with the expansion it will have 14,365 additional seats.

The maximum number of new seats, 3,100, is coming up at Mohali in Punjab, where the company currently has 200 seats.

Mohali is followed by Pune where the number of seats will go up by 2,500 and Chennai where the capacity will grow by 2,470 seats.

As many as 2,000 seats will come up in Bangalore, 1,250 in Bhubaneshwar, 1,215 in Hyderabad, 1,450 in Mysore, 160 in Mangalore, and 220 in Thiruvananthapuram.

The additional office space will help Infosys accommodate its employees which are increasing at a rapid pace and stand at around 32,000 globally.
