NATIONAL 'World Bank to increase annual lending to India' World Bank is planning to increase its annual lending to India to $ 3 billion as part of initiatives to continue the long-term development partnership, the Bank's country director, Michael F Carter said today (Nov 5, 2004).
"Cumulatively, India is our biggest client. The World Bank's present portfolio of projects in India is its second biggest worldwide. We intend to be a facilitator and generator of global knowledge for India and help its poorest States in particular," Carter said.
