'Infy, RIL named India's most respected Companies' Wednesday, November 3 2004 16:57 Hrs (IST)

Infosys Technologies and Reliance Industries today (Nov 3, 2004) have emerged as 'India's Most Respected Companies' in a survey conducted by 'IMRB International' based on a rigorous nation-wide peer-perception survey. The details are published in the latest issue of Businessworld.
'India's Most Respected Companies' list is topped by Infosys Technologies followed by Reliance at No.2 and Wipro at No.3. Hindustan Lever emerged in fourth place and Maruti Udyog ranked fifth for the year 2004.
Infosys Technologies maintained its place at the top spot, while Reliance Industries improved its rank of last year, jumping one place from No.3 to a position of No.2 this year in the list of 'India's Most Respected Companies'.
Commenting on Reliance's performance, Businessworld writes, 'The company's willingness to change with the times has ensured that it is not only still in the Top10 after 20 odd years, (since 1983 when the first survey was conducted) but has also bettered its ranking (from No.7, its now at No.2).'
Most Dynamic Organisation
In the 'IMRB International' peer-perception survey of India's 'Most Dynamic Organisation', Reliance Industries emerged as India's 'Most Dynamic Organisation' followed by Infosys Technologies at No.2 and ICICI Bank at No.3.
Most Globally Competitive Organisation
Similarly, in the survey of India's 'Most Globally Competitive Organisation' Reliance ranked at No.2, second only to Infosys Technologies and, ahead of Wipro and Tata Consultancy Services, which share the third place.
Companies from 17 sectors are represented in the survey to give fair representation to the Indian industry. The sectors included in the survey are - Automobiles, Auto Ancillaries, Banking and Financial Services, Consumer Durables, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods, Food Services, Information Technology, Infrastructure, Insurance, IT-Enabled Services, Media & Entertainment, Petroleum, Pharmaceuticals, Readymade & Textiles, Retail,
Telecommunications and Travel & Hospitality.
Earlier this year Reliance was adjudged the 'Most Admired Company' in a Business Barons - TNS Mode Opinion Poll in September and ranked No. 2 in 'India's Most Respected Companies' PricewaterhouseCoopers survey published in the Financial Times in January.
