Sonata Software sets up its subsidiary in Germany

Bangalore: IT services firm Sonata Software today (Oct 18, 2004) said it has set up its subsidiary in Germany with an aim to consolidate its presence in the European Union and capture the market in German and West European markets.

The subsidiary, Sonata Software GmbH will be based out of Frankfurt, the Bangalore-based company said in a statement.

A spokesman said the German unit would house a software development centre employing about seven people, besides focusing on marketing activities. Investment details were not available.

"Our long term strategy is to establish a local presence in all the key markets, and be where the customers are," Sonata President and Managing Director B Ramaswamy said.

He said Europe holds a promise for Sonata and "we foresee significant traction in the coming years."

Sonata said with the Frankfurt unit, the firm has a presence in 12 centres, which includes footprint in three locations in Europe.
