Infosys Technologies said on Tuesday (Oct 12, 2004) that it added 5,010 people during July-September 2004, its biggest recruitment in a quarter so far, which included 2,266 people from various college campuses in the country.
"Net addition was 5,010 employees. This is almost equivalent to the total number of employees added in 2003," Infosys COO S Gopalakrishnan told reporters in Bangalore.
He said about 6,078 people were hired during the 3 months between July and September, which included 1,052 laterals. About 1,068 people quit Infosys during the period.
"We will be adding 4,000 to 4,500 people in the next two quarters," Infosys vice president (HR) Hema Ravichander said.
Infosys had said in April it would hire 10,000 people till March next year. It has hired close to 7,800 in the first six months. The current projections show it could hire a total of 12,500 people this fiscal.
Gopalakrishnan said the company's workforce was 32,949 people as on September, which includes 29,800 in IT services and 2,689 people in Progeon, Infosys's BPO subsidiary.
There were 2,266 freshers, who were hired from various colleges in the country through campus interviews.
He said the IT service division hired 4,547 people in the second quarter, while 420 people joined Progeon during the period.
