American enterprise mobility firm Symbol Technologies today (Oct 7, 2004) said, it would invest $ 30 million in India and ramp up its workforce to 500 at its development centre in Bangalore.
The Bangalore centre would initially have a work force of 180 engineers, with significant room for expansion to 500 engineers over time, a Symbol statement said in Bangalore, but did not specify a time frame for expansion.
"Symbol has already invested $ 10 million in India. We propose to invest another $ 30 million in ramping up our operations here and also plan to partner with other Indian technology companies for its product development activities and to extend its Enterprise Mobility reference architecture," Symbol India Managing Director Amit Phadnis said.
Symbol Global Senior Vice President and GM Wireless Infrastructure Anthony Bartolo said, the centre would play a crucial role in new development on wireless switches and mobility software products.
