Kyocera sets up CDMA phone design unit in Bangalore Thursday, September 30 2004 11:29 Hrs (IST)
Bangalore:
Kyocera Wireless India Ltd (KWI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of American CDMA wireless phone maker Kyocera today (Sep 30, 2004) said it has set up a hardware engineering design services centre in Bangalore.
The design centre would augment Kyocera's existing software engineering and production facilities in India, which is one of the fastest growing wireless markets in the world, a company statement said.
"The hardware design centre will currently employ 10 people and is planned to grow substantially in coming months," Kyocera Wireless Corp president Tsuyoshi Mano said.
He said the centre will help Kyocera to reach quickly to customers requirements in the Indian CDMA market, which is expected to grow to 40 million subscribers by 2007 from the existing 10 million.
Kyocera did not disclose any investment in the centre.
"KWI, by complementing its current software plan with hardware capabilities, will become a one-stop solution provider to Indian CDMA carriers in the near term, and other CDMA markets in the future," Kyocera India Managing Director Samartha Nagabhushanam said.
