Three more Indian companies set to list on NASDAQ Sunday, September 19 2004 10:49 Hrs (IST)
Beijing:
Three more Indian companies from diverse sectors like banking, airline, biotechnology and manufacturing are expected to be listed in NASDAQ this year, senior officials from the largest US electronic stock market said in Beijing.
While pointing out that only three Indian companies-Infosys Technologies Limited, Rediff.com India Limited and Sify Limited--- have been listed on NASDAQ so far, Senior Managing Director, International Corporate Client Group, NASDAQ, Stuart C Patterson said three more may be listed by the end of the year.
"Three more Indian companies may be listed in NASDAQ by the end of the year, market conditions being well," he said.
"India is a very important country for NASDAQ. The most exciting thing for us about India at the moment is the interest we are receiving from Indian companies," Patterson said.
Some of the sectors that have shown keen interest in NASDAQ are airlines, bank, manufacturing, consumer products, biotech, he said while declining to identify the companies.
"There is a lot of interest from the broad spectrum of the economy," Patterson said, adding that NASDAQ was keen to help Indian companies who wanted to raise their profile and visibility globally by tapping the world's leading stock market.
"We have changed our approach now. Now it is basically a team approach. We want to make sure that we can harness all our resources of the organisation and use those to increase our share," Patterson said.
