US-based Serena Software launches M&A in Bangalore

Bangalore: Application cycle management software firm Serena Software, Inc on Tuesday (Sep 7, 20040 launched in Bangalore its Indian operations with an aim to increase its market share in the $40 million market application cycle management segment in India.

Launching the operations, Serena regional vice president, Asia operations, David Parker told reporters the firm's products would enable IT departments to effectively improve processes, decrease costs and produce higher quality applications.

The California-based Serena, he said, was currently outsourcing software from various vendors in India, but had no specific plans to set up a research and development centre in the country.

Serena India manager Keshav Prakash said, the firm presently had five sales personnel with over 300 customers in India and plans to increase its market share to 10 per cent of the $40 million business in India by 2005 and about 22 per cent in 2006.
