Bangalore: Software major Infosys has sought 300 acres of land in Bangalore for setting up its new campus, Infosys CEO and President Nandan Nilekani said today (Aug 10, 2004).

"We have asked the Government for 300 acres of land for our new campus in the city. We plan to add 50 acres in Mysore and an additional 25 acres in Mangalore," Nilekani told reporters after a breakfast meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh.

"We hope the Government would expedite clearance of land. We are adding 8,000 to 10,000 people annually," he said.

The Bangalore-based Infosys, Nilekani said, "We would not hesitate to expand into other regions of the country, if there is a delay in getting land for its current expansion.

"If we are not able to expand here, then to accommodate the people we are adding (8,000 to 10,000 people), then it has to be somewhere, we have to expand elsewhere," he said.

Nilekani said the Uttar Pradesh Government was aggressive to promote the Noida region for the IT sector, as also the West Bengal Government in that State.
