SAP to invest Euro 20 mn in India; to raise headcount Tuesday, August 3 2004 16:33 Hrs (IST)

German software major SAP AG today (Aug 3, 2004) said it would invest Euro 20 million for expanding its facility in Bangalore and plans to increase its workforce to 3,000 by 2006.
SAP AG CEO Henning Kagermann told reporters in Bangalore that the German software maker would invest Euro 20 million in its phase III of India development centre located in over 21 acres of land at Whitefield on the city outskirts.
The India centre, touted to be the largest of SAP outside Germany, presently has 1,100 developers and the firm plans to increase the headcount to 1,500 by the year-end.
Kagermann said SAP plans to increase its workforce to over 3,000 by 2006.
