Broadband India 2004: A mega business event by CII
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has announced "Broadband India 2004", a mega business event to help develop a roadmap for India's Broadband Economy on October 7 and 8, 2004 at Hotel Park Royal, New Delhi.

BSE: Auto sector, FIIs push up Sensex by 50 pts
Led by the auto sector, stocks continued their upward march for the second straight day lifting Sensex by another 50 points at close at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today (July 30, 2004) on sustained purchases by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) coupled with fresh buying support from operators.

ITC announces 16.3% growth in post-tax profit
ITC's post-tax profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2004 posted a growth of 16.3 % to Rs 461.99 crores while pre-tax profit registered a growth of 11.6 % to Rs. 674.51 crores. Earnings per share for the quarter stood at Rs 18.65.

India can grow at 7 per cent a year or more and quadruple its income per capita by 2025 if it avoids "hastily embarking on an overly ambitious agenda of economic liberalisation and privatisation," an IMF study said.
