IBM to set up eGovernance centre in Chandigarh Tuesday, July 27 2004 17:26 Hrs (IST)

IBM India today (July 27, 2004) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chandigarh Union Territory, under which it will set up an "IBM eGovernance Solutions Centre for Linux" for the Chandigarh Administration.
The initiative will help Chandigarh develop different e-government applications using open standards and IBM's eGovernance Frameworks, the company said in a statement in Bangalore.
The Centre will promote "affordable, open standards based computing", provide online support on Linux, and train students and professionals of Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana on Linux and IBM software, the statement said.
