Knowledge Works Global Ltd (KGL), a joint venture between Datamatics Technologies Ltd and Cadmus Communications Corporation, opened its second Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) facility in Chennai.
KGL, which could house 600 employees in two shifts, has started operations with a total of 50 employees, said Walter Peter, chairman, KGL, in a statement in Chennai.
He said the company planned to recruit another 450-500 people in the next six months.
The new facility, spread across 27,000 sq ft, would provide end-to-end services to scientific, technical, medical and educational publishers, he said. "The BPO will offer a full suite of publishing services, which includes high-end copy-editing, composition and issue management," said Peter.
Mumbai-based Datamatics Technologies, India's only listed non-voice third-party BPO service provider, operates two more BPOs in the country, one each in Chennai and Mumbai, employing in excess of 1500 people.
"We have put in place a state-of-the-art facility, which is comparable to the best in the world," said Manish Modi, managing director, Datamatics Technologies Ltd.
US-based Cadmus Communication Corporation is a leading global provider of content management and production services to scientific, technical and medical journal publishers.
