We are fighting software battle on our terms: Infy Saturday, June 12 2004 20:39 Hrs (IST)
Bangalore:
Software major Infosys today (June 12, 2004) said that battle for winning global software contracts with rival firms in the US were being fought on the terms of Indian offshoring firms like Infosys.
"The battle is now being fought on our terms. Infosys and offshore companies have become leaders, and the global incumbents have become the followers," Infosys Technologies Chairman and Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy said at the annual general meeting of the company in Bangalore.
"Offshore development is now a mandatory component of any offering in our marketplace," Murthy said.
Infosys's global rivals like IBM, Accenture and EDS have a India presence with their development centres in Bangalore adopting the "follow the Sun" model to implement software projects in a faster and more cost effective manner.
However, Infosys has argued that the adoption by its rivals in the United States fundamentally disrupts their business model which benefits Indian companies that always has emphasised on the cost and quality factor.
"Infosys has become the mainstream model for every player in the market. Having tasted the success of the Infosys experience, the customers now want every player to demonstrate percept to practice," Murthy said.
He said China will play an important role in the future of any multinational corporation, hence Infosys has started a subsidiary in China, which is a very important initiative.
