Thursday, May 27 2004 18:59 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Maharashtra Government today (May 27, 2004) presented a Rs 7,303.35 crore deficit Budget for the year 2004-05.

"In the interim Budget, it was anticipated that there would be a surplus of Rs 53.62 crore. This surplus, however, did not take into account the burden of plan and non-plan new items," the State Finance Minister Jayant Patil said, presenting the Budget in the Legislative Assembly in Mumbai.

Taking into the account the deficit of Rs 1,144.19 crore in additional Budget, unbudgeted plan outlay of Rs 5,209.20 crore and opening balance of minus Rs 949.96 crore, the surplus will get converted into a deficit of Rs 7,303.35 crore, he added.

The total revenue receipts are estimated to Rs 40,393.08 crore (Rs 37,158.92 crore in FY-04).

The total revenue expenditure in the current fiscal is pegged at Rs 50144.88 crore (Rs 46,195.49 crore).
