Sensex opens firm at 5,116 as DMK gets on board

Mumbai: Defusing the problem over allocation of portfolios to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), the market opened on a firm note and recovered all of their overnight losses, with the Sensex quoting at 5,134.11 within a few minutes of opening trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today (May 26, 2004).

The BSE-30 share sensitive index opened firm at 5,116.58 as against yesterday's close of 5,102.22 and was quoted at 5,134.11 at 10.00 hrs (IST).

The S&P CNX Nifty also quoted higher at 1,615.45 as against overnight close of 1,606.70.
