VSNL to launch virtual calling cards in Singapore Sunday, May 23 2004 16:17 Hrs (IST) Singapore:
Internet gateway and services major Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) is to launch its Virtual Calling Cards (VCC) in Singapore for Indian diaspora and tourists visiting this country, to enable them to call back home.
"The cards, which would be launched in India initially, are being tested and will be rolled out in another 10-12 days time," VSNL sources said today (May 23, 2004).
The VCCs are expected to be rolled out in Indian currencies of denominations of Rs 540, 1,000 and 1,500 upwards, and VSNL expects a "good reception" for this in the city-country, he said.
The company, which has set up an office in Singapore, would sell the VCCs through its Tata Indicom office, he said, "VSNL was currently testing the product."
The firm is also planning launch the cards in other Asian countries, he said. He, however, did not divulge further details, stating these are only "under consideration".
