Wipro looks to tap booming Chinese IT market
Saturday, May 15 2004 10:09 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: Leading Information Technology company Wipro has started looking at tapping the booming Chinese IT market, sources said today (May 14, 2004).

Wipro Chairman Azim Premji quietly paid a visit to Shanghai, China's largest city as well as the industrial capital, on May 13.

He was reportedly on a visit to personally see the Chinese market, sources said. Details of his trip were not available.

Indian IT giants like Infosys, TCS, Satyam and NIIT have operations in China, targeting the local market as well as other East Asian markets like Japan and South Korea.

During his trip to Shanghai, Premji met with Consul-General of India Sujan Chinoy, who briefed him about the growing India-China trade, especially from East China and the huge scope for enhanced bilateral co-operation.
